Expand your market! Commercial Real Estate and you
With residential real estate it’s about finding the property that meets your client’s needs. With Commercial real estate it’s about finding the property that meets your client’s needs. Same thing! The only thing that changes is the need. The need in Commercial is either investment return, Tax sheltering, or the owner user’s business criteria to help the business operate. That does not mean an agent versed in residential sales can easily go and represent a commercial client.
But it does mean that a residential agent can learn how to meet the needs of a commercial client. Your Local Association, State Association and National Association are now supporting the commercial agent.
The Citrus Valley Association is currently working toward earning the REALTORS Commercial Alliance(RCA) designation. This designation requires the Association to complete an application outlining our member’s involvement in the commercial industry. RCA wants to know about our commercial training programs, CVAR committees that focus on commercial activities, our members that are working in the commercial business and other community involvement with commercial real estate. For information regarding our commercial training classes, please visit your association web portal at: www.cvar.net.
The California Association is also getting in on the act with commercial real estate. They are developing a web site to offer commercial information and training, the web address is www.carcommercial.org. This web site will be live in October, to coincide with the “Commercial Day” Expo in Long Beach, October 15, 2008.
At the National level, you will find an immense amount of information at: www.REALTOR.org/RCA. A complete information store waits for the commercial practitioner here. Editorial articles, landmark legal cases, technology reviews, RCA hot topics, the commercial real estate outlook, commercial real estate courses and networking are viewable and downloadable. If you are active in Commercial Sales, then please update your NRDS record at REALTOR.org, at “My Account,” so your name will be on the searchable commercial broker directory, and you will receive publications and products specifically created for commercial practitioners.
Your Citrus Valley Association is now asking members who wish to belong on the commercial committee to volunteer by calling or emailing Emily Schwartz, our CEO at ESchwartz@cvar.net. Thank you and remember your local, state and national REALTOR Associations are working to provide you with all that you need to become more successful and profitable in the Residential and Commercial real estate business.
