Meeting in Washington, D.C., in Mid May, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® Board of Directors took a major strategic leap, authorizing the association to work with a technology company to create a broker-controlled national repository or “library” of property data that would provide members-only access to detailed information on all properties in the United States.

With residential real estate it’s about finding the property that meets your client’s needs. With Commercial real estate it’s about finding the property that meets your client’s needs. Same thing! The only thing that changes is the need. The need in Commercial is either investment return, Tax sheltering, or the owner user’s business criteria to help the business operate. That does not mean an agent versed in residential sales can easily go and represent a commercial client.

Tired of Paying Rent? Or you should be! After all, we are REALTORS®. The Association office, which is currently located in the San Dimas Retail Center, is where we service our members with training, membership administration, government affairs, and other REALTOR® type activities. We are going to move in June of 2009. Why are we going to move? I think the biggest complaint is having rents go up every year, and taxes go up whenever the Retail Center is sold to a new landlord.

Summer is upon us which means I just have six months until the end of my Presidency. Our new building at 504 E. Route 66, Glendora, closed escrow the end of May. The Building Task Force is busy getting the city approval on the building plans drawn by the architect. Next step is getting cost estimates for the inside rehab and remodel. Right now our target date for completion is June 2008.

This month is the annual National Association of Realtors Legislative and Business meeting in Washington D.C.
