President's Message

This month is the annual National Association of Realtors Legislative and Business meeting in Washington D.C. I will be passing along the information I gather at those meetings in next month’s article. It is always a busy schedule when visiting Legislators on Capital Hill in addition to all the many meetings held during the week.

We have sold our building on Rowland in Covina for $879,888. Placing the money with an accommodator until we get our new loan in place on our new home at 504 Route 66, Glendora. We are in the midst of build out plans to be submitted to the city. We will have to demolish part of the building and are contemplating removing the roof on portions to raise the ceilings and add more space to the meeting room. This is one of the overwhelming remarks from you the members for a much larger space to meet. I know that it is very frustrating when the new members have to be turned away on orientation day. When we held the Risk Management class in April put on by our Board Attorney we had to turn away many. The room we have now only holds 100.

It is exciting and challenging to make the new building a showcase and fully functional for all our needs.

The legislative landscape is heating up with the Private Transfer Tax. Our Government Affairs Director is busy staying on top of all the issues. If you have any concerns or questions feel free to call Bill Ruh at our office.

The Budget and Finance Committee is now doing a rolling forecast each month to keep on top of our investments and expenditures. Thomas Baldwin is doing a terrific job of staying on top of the budget. If you have any concerns please give him a call.

The membership committee is busy planning more educational seminars for our benefit. Sherry Scott has had a meeting every month effectively getting top notch speakers.

The Communications and Public Relations committee is still looking for members. If any have any interest, please call the board office and leave a message with Chrissi and/or Rod Guge.

The Charitable Foundation held presentations April 25th for several charities. The board will meet one more time to select the amounts to donate in December to the charities. We will make the presentations at our annual Christmas Breakfast December 5th this year.

Housing Committee Chair, Jim Jackson, is still working very hard on getting programs together to present to the public on how to secure affordable housing.

That is all for this month I will have more next issue on what is happening in Washington D.C.
