We inducted over 1000 new agents. We closed escrow on the new building. We spent two months developing a budget trying to work the expenses against the projected drop in membership. We are looking closely at the building budget for our new building. Some strategies that have come into play is the new CVAR Marketplace. The first of the year we will discontinue printing, collating and distributing flyer and classified ads. Flyers and classifieds will be online at the CVAR Marketplace in color format for only $25. This will be a reduction from the $30 currently charged. Since postage has gone up, this is the most efficient and economical way for you to advertise to the membership. YOUR FLYER will be on the web page constantly. I hope you all were able to make the November 30th Meet and Greet party here at your Association office to meet the new CEO, Emily Schwartz. We are so very fortunate to have her here and if you have not met her, please stop by and introduce yourself.
Eleanor has retired. She will be on holiday the second week in December and then come back to help Emily settle in. If you have not gotten a chance to say goodbye yet, please make a point of stopping by before December 31st , Eleanor’s final day. She would love to have the opportunity to say good bye to each of you. We have been so fortunate to have had this highly regarded lady by both the California Association of REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS® as our very own Association Executive. She has helped our Association stay on the radar and held us to high standards.
We also are fortunate to have the C.A.R. 2007 Distinguished REALTOR® right here in our association, Sharon Bowler. You all have a lot to be proud of as members of such a wonderful association.
With the tragedy of the October wildfires, your Association donated $5,000 towards the Disaster Relief Fund set up by C.A.R. If you know of a REALTOR® from our association that was affected by the fires, have them contact the Association office and staff can assist them to the C.A.R. Disaster Relief site to obtain paperwork to file for grant money to help reestablish their lives.
Our donation to C.A.R.’s Relief Fund was from our Community Awareness Fund that you have contributed to over the past few years. In addition to that donation, we have also had the pleasure of donating to other local charities in our communities.
Stephen Yeager, your 2008 president, will be installed at our Annual Holiday Breakfast on December 5th at the Pomona Valley Mining Company. My deinstallation will be December 7th at the Sycamore Inn. I will still serve as your President through the end of this year and I will pass the gavel to Steve on January 1, 2008.
It has been a incredible privilege serving as your president. I hope that I have served you all well. The benefit and integrity of our Association has always been my Number One priority and sometimes this has not made for popularity in the decisions made. I learned much from this experience and I walk away proudly knowing I did not let outside influences or popularity impede any decisions that were made for the welfare of the Association.
I thank my fellow Board of Directors, Stephen Yeager, President Elect, Marilyn Ralston, Vice President, Thomas Baldwin, Treasurer, Lidia Yun, Sharon Bowler, Mark Peterson, Bruce Engles, David Brighton, Dale Colby, Roger Wade and Carl Burnett, Immediate Past President. They have made the journey interesting and without them, we would get little accomplished. To the Committee Chair people, I really give a “shout out” . . . Jim Jackson, who has put us on the map for Housing Opportunities. Rod Guge who started and is running a dynamic group for Community Communications Relations (CC&R). Sherry Scott, Education/Membership, has done an excellent job of bringing us timely and well attended education classes. Marilyn Ralston has faithfully held Orientation every month and chaired the Scholarship Committee. To Roger Wade and Bruce Engles, co-chairs of the Local Government Relations (LGR) committee; Professional Standards chaired by Dale Colby; Grievance by Rita Strickroth; Dan Burns, Bylaws, Equal Opportunity chaired by Sherri Woods; Multiple Listing Service(MLS) by Bruce Engles; Personnel and Tech Committees by Stephen Yeager, and the Real Estate Professionals by Carol Facciponti. Thank you all.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Welcome the new Board of Directors: President Stephen Yeager, President-Elect Lidia Yun, Treasurer Thomas Baldwin, Vice President Bruce Engles, Immediate Past President Linda Moulder, along with Directors Marilyn Ralston. Sharon Bowler, Roger Wade, Gary Ingram, Barbara McClelland, Carol Facciponti and Dale Colby.
Thank you again for electing me to serve you and I will treasure always the opportunity and journey this job has provided.
President Linda Moulder
