How do I file a Complaint?

Complete a Disciplinary Complaint form, write a summary of your issues and determine which Code of Ethics you want to charge against the agent with reference to the 17 Articles in the Code of Ethics.

What action can Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS ® take against the agent?

It will be up to the panel. It may include a letter of warning, a fine, education requirements, suspension of MLS Service and/or Notification to the B.R.E. Citrus Valley does not have the authority to revoke a B.R.E. license.

Can you revoke a real estate agent's license?

No, only the Bureau of Real Estate can revoke a real estate license. Visit www.dre.ca.gov for more information.

I sent a letter cancelling my listing but the agent won’t release me from the contract. Why?

A listing agreement is a two party cancellation. The broker must be in agreement to cancel the listing.

If I file against a REALTOR® with CVAR, will the complaint be made public?

The complaint you file with our association will be kept confidential. It's not for public record.

What do I do if the other agent is refusing to pay the full commission offered in the MLS?

First speak with the agent’s broker, if that is unsuccessful, you can file arbitration through Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS®.

What if I want to file a complaint against an agent but I don’t want him to know who filed?

You can file an anonymous complaint with Citrus Valley Association of REALTORS® if the facts support the complaint.

What if the agent is not calling me back or giving me any paperwork?

Contact CVAR's Professional Standards Department and we will put you in touch with an ombudsman who can attempt to resolve the issue.
